They say that April showers bring May flowers. And while that proverb is generally true, April showers can also bring a whole mess of other things, like boredom, allergies and wet socks. Down Syndrome Awareness Spring Soccer Classic

Xavier soccer complex, 7:30 p.m.
Organized to raise funds for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, the annual spring soccer classic bids the Xavier men’s soccer team against Notre Dame. Head coach Andy Fleming’s 2-year-old daughter, Devin, inspired the classic and kicks off the game as honorary captain of the team. Tickets cost $5 each, and all proceeds go toward increasing Down syndrome awareness and resources. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for tickets.
Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble
Wednesday, April 24
Gallagher Theater, 7:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
Jazz up the middle of your week and join the audience as Xavier’s Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra unite for an end-of-the-year concert. Each ensemble plays separate selections, and then combine forces while featuring student vocalists. Free admission.
Symphonic Winds presents “Epic Percussion”
Thursday, April 25
Gallagher Theater, 7:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
The musicians from Xavier Symphonic Winds plan to end the academic year with a performance of epic proportions. The first half of the concert features guest soloist Erica Drake on percussion performing the tour-de-force “Percussion Concerto” with the expanded ensemble. Then, after intermission, Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” brings the concert to a triumphant close. Free admission.
