This Week at Xavier: April 12-18
Last week, the birds sang, noses ran, plants started to sprout and the ice cream trucks blasted “Do Your Ears Hang Low?” from speakers. Spring has officially sprung.
In the past, because of the abundance of new life during this season, some historical calendars marked it as the beginning of the new year. And even though we now celebrate it in the winter, that doesn’t mean that now isn’t the time to reinvent yourself. Good thing Xavier has some events planned that might help guide you and your families to a more healthy and productive lifestyle. Here’s what’s going on this week.
Kids in the Kitchen
Saturday, April 13
10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Cintas Center
People like to joke that kids say the darndest things. But the truth is, they learn habits—whether healthy or not—from adults and friends. So why not let them hang out with athletes and chefs for the day? The Kids in the Kitchen program hosts its biggest event of the year, where kids (ages 12 and under) learn about healthy eating and active lifestyles. It’s a fun-filled day packed with games, crafts and cooking demonstrations by local chefs, and the kids get plenty of exercise and opportunities to make healthy, delicious snacks. Giveaways guaranteed for the first 500 attendees, and participants can enter to win raffle prizes. Free admission and parking.
Southwest Ohio/Northern Kentucky Education Career Fair
Tuesday, April 16
9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Cintas Center
Are you a teaching or counseling student/alumni looking for employment? If that’s the case, Xavier’s got you covered—the 2013 Southwest Ohio/Northern Kentucky Education Career Fair is happening this week, and you’re invited to come. No pre-registration is required to attend; the only things you need to remember are copies of your resume, business casual attire and student IDs (for current students).
